Introducing Creative Recovery - Video (2 min)

Queensland was hit hard by the natural disasters in the summer of 2010/11. With artists playing an important part in the response and recovery efforts, there is an opportunity to learn from the experiences.

The aim is to share this knowledge and build a state-wide network of artists ready to support their communities in meeting future challenges. We are calling this new network the Creative Recovery Arts Corps

Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and Cassowary Coast - have been chosen as pilot communities. We want to build on the local momentum, map the great work being done.

We are gathering stories from across the State of the 2011 summer, focusing on the roles local artists played in responding to the devasting impact of the floods.

Placestories is an easy to use digital platform for artists and community members to share their stories, ideas and knowledge of using the arts and creativity as part of disaster recovery.
